The Delta Central Senatorial District leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has resolved to seek appropriate sanctions against Federal Government appointees from the district who allegedly work openly for opposition candidates while neglecting the growth and sustenance of the party.
The resolution was reached at a meeting of the Delta APC Central Executive Committee held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at the residence of the Delta APC Central Chairman and State Vice Chairman, Chief Paulinus Akpeki.
The meeting was attended by members of the State Executive Committee from Delta Central, as well as chairmen and secretaries of the APC in Okpe, Ughelli North, Uvwie, Sapele and Ethiope West Local Government Areas.
Addressing the meeting, Chief Akpeki urged party leaders and members to remain loyal and committed to the APC, stressing the need for sustained grassroots mobilisation ahead of the forthcoming elections.
He said: “I urge every member of this committee to remain committed to the party and work tirelessly to ensure victory for the APC and all its candidates. We must put the collective interest of the party above personal considerations.”
Akpeki specifically tasked members to work for the success of APC candidates, beginning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and other candidates of the party across Delta Central.
According to him, “Our responsibility is to build a stronger party from the grassroots. We must mobilise our people, strengthen our structures and ensure that our candidates receive the support required to win their elections.”
The committee also placed emphasis on strengthening the party’s Unit Committees across the eight local government areas of Delta Central, describing the unit structure as critical to electoral success.
Members resolved that the unit committees must remain active, functional and adequately prepared to drive grassroots mobilisation, voter engagement and electoral participation.
A major issue considered at the meeting was the alleged involvement of some Federal Government appointees from Delta Central in the activities of opposition parties.
The committee resolved to take steps to seek the intervention of the Federal Government and the national leadership of the APC regarding appointees who, according to the members, are “openly and brazenly” working for opposition candidates while failing to contribute to the development of the APC.
The committee described such alleged conduct as inimical to the growth of the party and resolved to present the matter to the appropriate authorities for consideration and necessary action.
The committee stated: “It is unacceptable for persons who hold Federal Government appointments on the platform of the APC to openly work against the party and its candidates. We will bring such matters to the attention of the appropriate authorities and the national leadership of the party.”
The meeting also reviewed peace-building and conflict-resolution efforts within the various local government areas of Delta Central.
Members resolved to intensify efforts to settle disputes and disagreements within the party amicably, stressing that internal cohesion was essential to building a formidable electoral structure.
The committee emphasised that “peace, mutual understanding and effective conflict resolution are essential to building a stronger, more cohesive and election-ready APC.”
Issues relating to appointments and empowerment were also discussed, with members stressing the need for party structures and members to be adequately carried along in government programmes and initiatives designed to promote the welfare and development of the party.
The meeting ended with a renewed call for unity, discipline, loyalty and commitment among APC leaders and members across Delta Central Senatorial District.
The committee said it remained focused on strengthening the party at the grassroots and ensuring that the APC enters the forthcoming elections as a united and well-organised political force.
