Comrade Samuel Tega Akponine (JP), has congratulated the Delta State Government, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and the good people of Delta State on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the creation of the state. Delta State was created on August 27, 1991, following the division of the former Bendel State.
In a congratulatory message marking the historic anniversary, Akponine described the occasion as a significant milestone in the history of Delta State, noting that the past 35 years have been characterised by resilience, unity, diversity, human capital development and the collective contributions of successive administrations and citizens. He said the anniversary provides an opportunity for Deltans to reflect on the journey so far while looking forward to an even brighter future.
Akponine particularly congratulated Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his leadership and commitment to the development of the state, saying his administration’s focus on infrastructure, economic opportunities, peace and inclusive development is contributing to the advancement of Delta.
“I warmly congratulate His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, and the entire Delta State Government on this remarkable 35th anniversary. This is a celebration of our collective achievements, our resilience and our determination to build a greater Delta,” he said.
He also commended past governors, political leaders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, civil servants, business owners, youths, women and other stakeholders whose contributions have helped shape Delta State into what it is today.
“Every Deltan has a role in the story of our state. From Asaba to Warri, from the riverine communities to our urban centres, our people have continued to demonstrate the ingenuity, enterprise and strength that make Delta truly the Big Heart,” Akponine stated.
According to him, the anniversary should not only be about celebrating the past but also about renewing the commitment to peace, unity and sustainable development. He urged Deltans to support initiatives that promote economic growth, youth empowerment, improved infrastructure, quality education and opportunities for all, stressing that the future of the state depends on the collective responsibility of its people. His call for renewed unity echoes the Governor’s anniversary message urging Deltans to recommit themselves to peace, unity and collective responsibility.
Akponine prayed for continued peace, prosperity and progress across the 25 local government areas of Delta State, while wishing Governor Oborevwori, the government and all Deltans a joyful 35th anniversary celebration. “As Delta clocks 35, let us celebrate with gratitude, hope and renewed determination. May the years ahead bring greater development, prosperity and opportunities for every Deltan. Happy 35th anniversary to our dear Delta State,” he added.g
