Delta APC Celebrates Deltans at 35, Calls for Unity and Sustainable Development

The All Progressives Congress (APC), Delta State Chapter, has congratulated the people of the state on the 35th anniversary of the creation of Delta State, calling for greater unity, peace and collective commitment to sustainable development.

The State Chairman of the party, Chief Solomon Arenyeka, JP, in a goodwill message issued by the State Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo, said the milestone provided an opportunity for Deltans to reflect on the state’s journey, honour the contributions of past leaders and citizens, and renew their commitment to the progress and prosperity of the state.

Arenyeka described the anniversary as a celebration of the resilience and shared heritage of Deltans, noting that the people had continued to demonstrate courage, ingenuity and commitment to the advancement of the state and Nigeria.

“The 35th anniversary of Delta State is a celebration of our shared heritage, our collective resilience, and the enduring aspirations of our people,” he said.

According to him, the future of Delta State would depend not only on its abundant natural resources but also on how effectively those resources were harnessed to create opportunities and improve the lives of the people.

He said, “The greatness of Delta State will not be defined merely by the abundance of its resources, but by the wisdom with which we harness them, the opportunities we create for our people, and the legacy we bequeath to generations yet unborn.”

The APC chairman urged Deltans across political, ethnic, religious and social divides to put aside their differences and work together in the interest of peace, development and the common good.

Arenyeka also called for continued support for the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, saying genuine efforts aimed at making the state more prosperous, peaceful, inclusive and economically vibrant deserved the collective support of the people.

He said the welfare of citizens, sustainable development and the future of children must remain at the centre of governance.

“By placing the welfare of our people, sustainable development, and the future of our children at the centre of governance, we can build a Delta where prosperity is shared, opportunities abound, and every community has a meaningful stake in the progress of the state,” he stated.

The party chairman further stressed the need to build a state where every citizen would have a sense of belonging and where merit, enterprise and hard work would be rewarded.

He added that the Delta of tomorrow must be founded on shared vision, responsible leadership and collective determination.

Delta APC, therefore, joined Deltans at home and in the diaspora to celebrate 35 years of statehood, expressing optimism about the opportunities and possibilities ahead.

The party prayed for continued peace across the state and stronger bonds of unity among Deltans, while wishing the people a happy 35th anniversary.

“May peace continue to reign across our communities, may the bonds of unity among our people grow stronger, and may Delta State continue to rise in greatness and distinction,” the statement added.
