The Sheriff Jnr Care Foundation has announced the maiden edition of the Sheriff Junior Oborevwori Invitational Soccer Tournament, a regional football event aimed at fostering peace, unity, and youth empowerment across Delta Central.
According to the organisers, the competition will run from November 16 to December 21, 2025, at the Osubi Airport Field, Osubi Town, in Delta State.
Teams from the eight Local Government Areas of Delta Central are expected to participate, alongside invited teams representing the Urhobos in Warri South and Patani.
Speaking on the significance of the event, the Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, Comrade Oghenede Roy Uruemu, described the tournament as a platform for community building and youth development.
“This tournament goes beyond football. It is a movement to strengthen peace and unity, promote youth engagement, and drive community development. We are creating an avenue where young talents can be discovered, supported, and celebrated,” Uruemu said.
He urged the participating teams to embrace the competition in the spirit of sportsmanship and brotherhood.
The foundation disclosed that the tournament will feature thrilling matches, youth and community interaction, entertainment, and other side attractions — all aimed at promoting harmony and showcasing grassroots football talent across Delta Central.
