President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has emerged victorious in the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Primary Election in Delta State after securing a landslide 407,646 votes in the exercise conducted across the 25 local government areas of the state.
The result was announced on Saturday in Asaba by Delta State Governor and State Coordinator/Returning Officer for the APC Presidential Primary Election, Sheriff Oborevwori, following the collation of results from wards across the state.
Announcing the outcome, Governor Oborevwori disclosed that the APC recorded a total of 467,815 registered members in Delta State, out of which 407,646 members were accredited and participated in the exercise.
According to the results declared, President Tinubu polled 407,646 votes to defeat his only challenger, Mr. Stanley Osifo, who scored zero votes.
Declaring Tinubu winner of the primary, Oborevwori said:
“By the powers conferred on me as the State Coordinator and Returning Officer, I hereby declare that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, having polled overwhelming votes in the presidential primary election, is hereby declared winner and returned elected as the presidential candidate of the party.”
The declaration was witnessed by security agencies, party faithful, members of the press, and key stakeholders, including President Tinubu’s agent, Rt. Hon. Funkekeme Solomon; Stanley Osifo’s agent, Mr. Kelvin Ezekiel; and the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Sir Etekamba Udo Umoren.
Governor Oborevwori commended party members and stakeholders for ensuring a peaceful and orderly exercise across the state, describing the process as transparent, successful, and reflective of growing unity within the party.
“The peaceful conduct of this exercise demonstrates the maturity, unity, and strength of our party in Delta State. I commend all members and stakeholders for their cooperation and commitment to democratic principles,” he stated.
Speaking shortly after the announcement, Delta State APC Chairman, Chief Solomon Arenyeka, expressed gratitude to party members for the successful completion of the party’s primary elections.
“Today marks the climax of our party primaries which began with the House of Representatives, Senate, House of Assembly, Governorship, and now the Presidential Primary,” Arenyeka said.
“We thank God for the peaceful conduct of all the primary elections across Delta State. The process has been smooth, transparent, and successful.”
The presidential primary officially concludes the APC’s internal electoral process in Delta State, as the party shifts attention to preparations for the next phase of political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
