Delta APC Lauds Oborevwori Over US$100 Million Viability Gap Fund, Says Initiative Will Drive Investment and Economic Growth

The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has commended Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for establishing a US$100 million Viability Gap Fund, describing the initiative as a bold and strategic intervention that will stimulate investment, strengthen investor confidence, and accelerate economic development across the state.

In a statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo, Esq., on Monday, the party said the fund, announced during the opening of the three-day Delta State Economic Summit, reflects the governor’s commitment to creating a vibrant, resilient, and globally competitive economy.

The APC noted that the initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and Governor Oborevwori’s M.O.R.E. Agenda by providing an enabling environment for sustainable investments and private sector participation.

According to the party, “The establishment of a Viability Gap Fund is a forward-thinking policy instrument that demonstrates a profound understanding of the dynamics of modern economic development. By mitigating investment risks and enhancing the bankability of strategic projects, His Excellency has sent a powerful message to both local and international investors that Delta State is prepared to partner with the private sector in delivering world-class infrastructure and sustainable economic growth.”

The party stated that the fund is expected to unlock investments across key sectors, including infrastructure, energy, agriculture, manufacturing, technology, healthcare, tourism, housing, transportation, and the blue economy.

It added that the initiative would create employment opportunities, empower entrepreneurs, expand the state’s revenue base, and improve the living standards of residents.

The APC further said the policy reinforces Delta State’s position as one of Nigeria’s leading investment destinations and demonstrates Governor Oborevwori’s determination to pursue investor-friendly reforms capable of driving industrialisation and inclusive development.

Reaffirming its support for the administration, the party said it remains committed to promoting policies that encourage economic prosperity, infrastructural renewal, and social inclusion.

“We believe that governance achieves its highest purpose when visionary leadership is matched with practical policies capable of transforming lives and securing a prosperous future for generations yet unborn,” the statement said.

The party expressed confidence that with prudent management, transparency, and accountability, the Viability Gap Fund would serve as a catalyst for transformational development, attract strategic partnerships, and fast-track the execution of high-impact projects across the three senatorial districts of the state.

Congratulating Governor Oborevwori on what it described as the successful opening day of the Delta State Economic Summit, the APC urged development partners, the organised private sector, and the investment community to take advantage of the opportunities presented by the fund.

“Together, under the banner of the Renewed Hope Agenda and the M.O.R.E. Agenda, we remain optimistic that Delta State is on a steady path to greater economic prosperity, accelerated development, and shared progress for all,” the party stated.
