Delta APC Dismisses Omo-Agege’s Exit, Reaffirms Loyalty to Oborevwori

The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared that the resignation of former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, will not affect the strength, unity, or electoral prospects of the party in the state.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Valentine Onojeghuo Esq, the APC said it received news of Omo-Agege’s resignation “with unbothered equanimity,” insisting that the party remains firmly aligned with the leadership of Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori.

According to the statement, the party has witnessed “unprecedented growth, renewed political relevance, and greater grassroots acceptability” since Governor Oborevwori aligned with the APC.

The party stated: “Delta APC remains strong, united, and irrevocably aligned with the leadership and political direction of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori.”

The APC further alleged that Senator Omo-Agege had contributed little to strengthening the party since the governor joined the APC-led political structure in the state.

“Since the political alignment that brought His Excellency Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori into the APC fold, Senator Omo-Agege has contributed virtually nothing to strengthening party structures, fostering unity, or supporting the expanding political coalition,” the statement read.

The party also dismissed suggestions that Omo-Agege’s exit would weaken the APC in Delta State, stressing that the era of “personality-driven politics” had passed.

“The era of personal political empires and personality-driven politics is over. Delta APC has evolved into a formidable institution built on collective leadership, broad participation, and a shared commitment to advancing the progress and interests of Deltans,” Onojeghuo stated.

The APC claimed that Omo-Agege’s departure had long been anticipated, alleging that some of his close associates had already defected to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the party primaries.

The statement named Hon. Ejaife Odebala, Chief Ominimini Obiuwevbi, and Hon. Collins Egbetamah among associates allegedly sent ahead as part of what the party described as a “premeditated exit strategy.”

The party further accused the former senator of distancing himself from party activities after losing the senatorial primary, including failing to actively support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during subsequent political engagements.

“It is therefore not surprising that, true to his familiar pattern, after losing the party primaries, the former senator deliberately and conspicuously distanced himself from subsequent crucial party activities,” the statement added.

Reaffirming its loyalty, the Delta APC declared total support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, describing both leaders as the driving force behind the party’s growing dominance in the state.

“We state unequivocally that Delta APC is solidly, loyally, and unapologetically behind His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR and His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori,” the statement concluded.
