Tinubu Praises Super Eagles’ Quarter-Final Victory, Rallies National Support Ahead of Morocco

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended the Super Eagles for their commanding 2–0 victory over Algeria in the quarter-final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, describing the performance as both brilliant and inspiring.

In a message shared on his official X handle, @officialABAT, on Saturday, the President applauded the team’s effort and assured them of the nation’s full backing as they continue their quest for continental success.

“Brilliant performance… inspiring. Go, Super Eagles! You have the support of all Nigerians,” Tinubu wrote.

Nigeria sealed the win in Marrakech through goals from Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams, extending their impressive run at the tournament and securing a place in the semi-finals. The Super Eagles have emerged as one of the standout sides at AFCON 2025, blending attacking quality with disciplined defending.

The President’s message reflects the growing wave of national enthusiasm following the team’s latest triumph, as expectations continue to rise among football fans across the country.

The Super Eagles will now face host nation Morocco in a highly anticipated semi-final clash, with hopes that their current momentum will carry them into the final.

Nigeria, champions of Africa in 1980, 1994 and 2013, are seeking to lift the AFCON trophy for a fourth time. With consistent performances and renewed confidence, many Nigerians believe the team has what it takes to go all the way.
