…As Governor Oborevwori Donates Buses to Institute
The Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun, Delta State, has expressed its willingness to partner with the Delta State Government on international oil and gas training programmes aimed at empowering youths with industry-relevant skills and boosting the state’s economic development.
This commitment was made known by the Principal and Chief Executive Officer of PTI, Dr. Samuel Onoji, during a courtesy visit to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori at the Government House in Asaba on Tuesday.
Dr. Onoji revealed that PTI is ready to offer discounted and subsidised international training programmes in the oil and gas sector to enhance the employability of Delta youths. He praised the Oborevwori-led administration for its remarkable infrastructural strides, describing the developments across the state as unprecedented.
The PTI boss also thanked the Governor for restoring electricity to the Institute and extended an invitation to the upcoming International Hydrocarbons and Scientific Conference, scheduled to hold in October at the PTDF Hall, Abuja.
In his response, Governor Oborevwori applauded PTI and the Minister of Petroleum, Senator Heineken Lokpobri, for allocating 25 hectares of land to the state government an act he said demonstrates their dedication to Delta’s development.
“PTI holds a special place in the heart of Delta State. It was the pioneer federal institution that opened the door for others to establish a presence here. We deeply value our relationship with the Institute. Your visit underscores your commitment, and I assure you of this government’s continued support for all PTI’s endeavours,” the Governor stated.
As a show of support, Governor Oborevwori approved the donation of two buses, a Coaster Bus and an 18-seater Hiace Bus to address the transportation needs of PTI staff and students.
Founded in 1972, PTI remains Africa’s premier petroleum training institution, with a mandate to produce and continually develop skilled manpower for the oil and gas industry.
