Oborevwori Urges Investors to Tap Into Delta’s Economic Hub, Orders Rehabilitation on Ubeji–Egbokodo–Refinery Road

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has renewed his call on investors—especially Deltans at home and abroad—to seize emerging economic opportunities in the state, declaring that “the time to invest in Delta State is now.”

The governor made the appeal on Friday in Ubeji, Warri South Local Government Area, where he commissioned the Swiss International Rancho Valerie Hotel, a major new hospitality and tourism facility.

Speaking at the event, Oborevwori said the project represents a significant boost to Warri’s revival and a “bold testament to the city’s rising economic profile.” He noted that the state’s improving business climate, strengthened security, and infrastructure renewal agenda have restored investor confidence.

“Warri is rising again; Delta State is progressing steadily. The shadows of yesterday have given way to the bright possibilities of today and the greater promises of tomorrow,” he stated.

In a move to further support economic activities in the area, the governor ordered the immediate rehabilitation of the failed sections of the Ubeji/Egbokodo/Refinery Road.

Oborevwori affirmed that the new hotel would not only offer premium accommodation but also stimulate local enterprise, create employment opportunities, promote community stability, and contribute to Delta’s broader socio-economic development.

“This hotel is not just another project; it is a clear statement that Delta State is open for business. It affirms that our state is safe, investor-friendly, and capable of hosting world-class hospitality and tourism ventures,” he said.

The governor commended the hotel’s owner, Mr. Mode Akoma, describing him as a symbol of vision and determination. He lauded Akoma for choosing to invest in his hometown rather than taking the project elsewhere.

“If you had invited me to commission a hotel you built outside Delta State, I would not have attended. But I am proud that you chose to develop your community. This project brings jobs, peace, and progress,” he noted.

Reaffirming his administration’s dedication to the MORE Agenda, Oborevwori pledged sustained investment in infrastructure, security, and policies that encourage business growth.

In his welcome remarks, the hotel’s General Manager, Mr. Todowede Opeyemi, said the facility is committed to delivering exceptional hospitality services that meet global standards. He emphasized that the hotel aims to support the state’s development by helping unlock its tourism potential.

“Every guest who visits us deserves more than just a stay; they deserve an unforgettable experience—one that reflects our culture, our hospitality, and our warmth as a people,” Opeyemi said.
