NPF Mobile Force Orders Immediate Recall of Officers Attached to VIPs

The Nigeria Police Force Mobile Force (PMF) 50 Squadron in Kubwa, Abuja, has ordered all personnel deployed as security aides to high-profile individuals to return to base no later than 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 27, 2025.

The directive, issued under reference AB: 4087/FCT/50PMF/VOL.10/ and signed by the Squadron Commander, affects officers attached to 20 Very Important Persons (VIPs). Those listed include former Vice Presidents Atiku Abubakar and Namadi Sambo; Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike; former First Lady Aisha Buhari; Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Olatokunbo Kekere-Ekun; and the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III.

According to a memo dated November 26, 2025, other affected personalities include the Chief Judge of Nigeria; Minister of State for Labour; Senator Tanko Al-Makura; the APC Women Leader; Alhaji Kamba; Hon. Ngozi Iweala; Senator Ahmed Lawal; Hon. Khalifa Abdul; Hon. Yusuf Gagdi; Dr. Ramatu Tijjani; Hon. Vetra; Hon. Moses Ternege; the Managing Director of Barelco; Engineer Okeke; and Hon. Ibrahim Massari.

The announcement was conveyed by CSP Suleiman Abdullahi, Administrative Officer of the 50 PMF Squadron.

The recall follows President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive on Sunday ordering the withdrawal of police personnel attached to VIPs nationwide. The President, during a high-level security meeting in Abuja, instructed that officers be redeployed to frontline policing roles, particularly in underserved and rural communities where manpower shortages have undermined security operations.

The meeting was attended by key security chiefs, including the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu; Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke; Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun; and Director-General of the Department of State Services, Tosin Adeola Ajayi.

Under the revised security structure, VIPs requiring protection will now obtain armed escorts from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

A separate memo from the Commanding Officer of SPU Base 16, Lagos, Neji Veronica, also mandated the immediate withdrawal of all VIP-attached personnel and ordered their return to base before the close of business on November 24.

“Sequel to the directive of Mr President and Commander-in-Chief… the Commanding Officer directs, with immediate effect, the withdrawal of all personnel of SPU Base 16 attached to VIPs/Beats across the federation back to base,” the notice read.

Emphasising the urgency, the memo further warned that officers must report without delay and attend a lecture parade the following day, with attendance taken from the nominal roll.

The nationwide withdrawal marks one of the administration’s most sweeping reforms aimed at refocusing the police on core law enforcement duties amid rising security threats across the country.
