NDC Primaries: Ochei Hails Massive Turnout, Says Nigerians Are Ready for a New Political Order

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) on Friday successfully conducted its nationwide primary elections, drawing enthusiastic participation from party members and aspirants across the federation, including frontline Delta North Senatorial aspirant, Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei.

Speaking shortly after casting his vote during the exercise in Oshimili South Local Government Area of Delta State, Ochei expressed delight over the impressive turnout of party faithful and supporters from the various wards, describing the exercise as peaceful, transparent, and reflective of the growing acceptance of the NDC among Nigerians.

According to the former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, the orderly conduct of the primaries demonstrates the readiness of Nigerians to embrace a new political direction capable of addressing the nation’s numerous challenges.

“What we have witnessed here today is a clear indication that Nigerians are yearning for genuine change. The enthusiasm, commitment, and large turnout of our members and supporters show that the NDC has become a credible platform for those who desire a better future for our country,” Ochei stated.

He noted that the increasing support for the party across the country signals a shift in the nation’s political landscape, adding that Nigerians are determined to enthrone a government that prioritizes the welfare of the people.

“The era when votes were manipulated or failed to count is coming to an end. Nigerians are now more conscious of their civic responsibilities and are prepared not only to vote but also to ensure that every legitimate vote counts. Democracy can only thrive when the will of the people is respected,” he said.

Ochei further emphasized that the NDC represents a breath of fresh air in Nigeria’s political space, stressing that the party is committed to promoting accountability, transparency, good governance, and inclusive development.

“Our vision is to build a Nigeria that works for everyone—a nation where opportunities are not reserved for a privileged few but are accessible to all citizens regardless of background. That is the future the NDC represents,” he added.

Also speaking, House of Representatives aspirant for Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency, Mrs. Theodora Ndah, described the primaries as a resounding success and evidence that the NDC has emerged as a formidable political force ahead of future elections.

“The momentum we are witnessing today is unprecedented. Nigerians are tired of the old ways and are embracing a movement that offers hope, competence, and people-oriented leadership. The NDC is no longer an emerging party; it is a political force that cannot be ignored,” she said.

Ndah called on Nigerians, particularly young people and women, to join the growing movement for national renewal, noting that the party’s message of transformation continues to resonate across communities nationwide.

“This wave of change is sweeping through every part of the country. It’s a wake up call for Nigerians to be part of this movement and contribute to building the nation of our dreams,” she added.

The nationwide primary elections were conducted under the supervision of party officials and electoral committees, with reports from several states indicating a peaceful and transparent process.

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the NDC is expected to announce the official results of the primaries from its national headquarters in Abuja in the coming days.
