APC Screening Appeal Committee Promises Fair Hearing for Disqualified Delta Assembly Aspirants

The All Progressives Congress, APC, House of Assembly Screening Appeal Committee for Delta State has assured aspirants who were disqualified in the recently concluded screening exercise that all petitions submitted before the committee would be thoroughly and fairly examined in accordance with the constitution and guidelines of the party.

Chairman of the Appeal Committee, Senator Ben Collins Ndu, gave the assurance in Asaba during a press briefing with journalists shortly after the committee commenced sitting on appeals arising from the screening exercise ahead of the party primaries.

Senator Ndu, who was flanked by committee members including Hon. Anthony Nwobo and Mr. Peter Ugwu, disclosed that the committee had so far received six petitions from aggrieved aspirants seeking redress over their disqualification.

He stressed that the committee was committed to ensuring justice, transparency, and fairness in the discharge of its assignment.

“Our duty is to carefully review every petition brought before this committee and ensure that all decisions are taken strictly in line with the guidelines and constitution of the party,” Senator Ndu stated.

He urged all aspirants and party faithful to remain calm and conduct themselves peacefully, emphasizing that the interest and unity of the APC must supersede personal ambitions as preparations intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“We appeal to all aspirants to remain patient and continue to work for the growth of the party. The APC remains committed to internal democracy and due process,” he added.

The committee chairman also commended the leadership of the APC in Delta State and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for the warm reception accorded members of the committee as well as the peaceful and successful conduct of the screening exercise across the state.

Receiving the committee members, Delta State APC Chairman, Chief Solomon Arenyeka, explained that the appeal committee was in the state to entertain petitions arising from the screening process and assured aspirants that the party would handle all matters in line with established constitutional provisions.

“The APC is a party founded on justice and due process. We are confident that the appeal committee will carry out its responsibility fairly and in the best interest of the party,” Arenyeka said.

Also speaking, the State Organising Secretary of the APC, Chief Emma Egbabor, appreciated the committee for its commitment and pledged the cooperation of the state working committee throughout the exercise.

The meeting, which attracted several members of the State Working Committee and party stakeholders, is seen as part of ongoing efforts by the APC leadership to ensure inclusiveness, transparency, and party cohesion ahead of the forthcoming electoral processes in Delta State.
