The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has commended workers for their resilience and contributions to development, while reaffirming its commitment to prioritizing their welfare under the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
In a statement issued on Thursday in Asaba to mark the 2026 Workers’ Day celebration, the State Chairman of the party, Chief Solomon Arenyeka, praised workers across Delta State and Nigeria for their dedication and sacrifices.
Arenyeka described workers as “the backbone of our economy and the driving force behind sustainable development,” noting that their efforts remain vital to the growth of the state and the nation.
“As we mark this year’s Workers’ Day, I salute the courage, diligence, and patriotism of our workers who, despite prevailing challenges, remain steadfast in their duties. Your unwavering commitment is deeply appreciated and does not go unnoticed,” he said.
The APC chairman also reassured workers of Governor Oborevwori’s continued commitment to their well-being, stressing that the administration is focused on policies that enhance productivity and improve working conditions.
“I wish to assure all workers in Delta State that His Excellency is fully committed to prioritizing your welfare. His administration understands that a motivated workforce is essential for meaningful development, and deliberate steps are being taken to enhance productivity, ensure job security, and create more opportunities for growth,” Arenyeka added.
He further called on workers to sustain their support for government initiatives, emphasizing that collective effort is necessary to achieve a more prosperous Delta State.
Arenyeka also urged employers in both the public and private sectors to uphold fair labour practices and create enabling environments for workers to thrive.
“Let us use this occasion to renew our commitment to unity, hard work, and mutual respect. Together, we can achieve the Delta State of our dreams,” he stated.
The statement was signed by the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Valentine Onojeghuo, to commemorate the May 1 celebration.
