FG Declares Friday, September 5, 2025, Public Holiday for Eid-ul-Mawlid

The Federal Government has declared Friday, September 5, 2025, a public holiday in observance of Eid-ul-Mawlid, the celebration of the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, through a statement released by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, on Tuesday.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo extended his heartfelt congratulations to Muslims across Nigeria and around the world, encouraging them to emulate the noble virtues of the Prophet, including peace, love, humility, tolerance, and compassion.

He also urged all Nigerians, regardless of religious background, to use the occasion to pray for peace, security, and unity in the country, while supporting ongoing efforts aimed at national development and cohesion.

“The Minister of Interior wishes Muslims a joyous and peaceful Eid-ul-Mawlid celebration,” the statement concluded.
