Esenwa Commends Gov. Oborevwori for Ugbolu–Okpanam Road, Lauds Statewide Infrastructure Drive

The member representing Oshimili North Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Frank Ngozichukwuka Esenwa (Esq.), has applauded the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for his administration’s sustained commitment to infrastructure development, describing the Ugbolu–Okpanam road project as a “transformative investment” that will open up new economic opportunities for the people of Oshimili North and beyond.

In a press statement issued on Saturday 18 October, 2025, Hon. Esenwa expressed profound appreciation to the Governor for personally performing the groundbreaking of the 11.725-kilometre Ugbolu–Okpanam Link Road on Thursday, October 16, 2025, despite heavy rainfall, describing the gesture as proof of the Governor’s dedication to promises made under his MORE Agenda.

“This project represents exactly the kind of strategic investment Oshimili North needs and deserves. It signals a new era of connectivity and prosperity for our communities,” Esenwa said.

Giving details of the economic Impact of the project, the lawmaker explained that the Ugbolu–Okpanam Road begins from the Asaba–Ugbolu–Illah Road, near Ugbolu Market, and terminates at Uche Nwankwo Street in Okpanam.

The 12-kilometre stretch includes an 8-metre-wide asphalt pavement with 1.5-metre shoulders on both sides and over 27,000 metres of reinforced concrete drains with stormwater channels to curb flooding and gully erosion.

Constructed by Levant Construction Limited at a contract sum of ₦21.3 billion, Esenwa revealed that the contractor had already been mobilized with ₦8.5 billion, representing 40% advance payment.

He noted that the Governor’s directive for certified payments to be processed within five working days demonstrates a culture of administrative efficiency that supports development delivery.

He added that the project would not only enhance connectivity between Ibusa, Akwukwu-Igbo, and Asaba, but also stimulate agriculture, boost trade, improve security, and provide jobs for local residents.

Esenwa further lauded the Governor’s statewide infrastructure revolution, highlighting other major projects such as the Stormwater Control Project within the Asaba Capital Territory, which covers a 6.5-kilometre drainage network aimed at permanently addressing flooding in the capital.

He also cited the Orere Bridge in Ughelli South Local Government Area, now nearing completion, and the rehabilitation of failed portions of the Warri–Sapele–Benin Road in Uvwie and Okpe LGAs — a 10-kilometre dual carriageway reconstruction effort that is expected to improve road safety and intercity movement.

“From Asaba to Ughelli South, from Warri to Okpanam, Governor Oborevwori’s leadership is not just constructing roads — it is building trust, unity, and opportunity,” Esenwa stated.

Commending Governor Oborevwori for his Leadership, the lawmaker described the him as a “promise-keeper and visionary leader” who has remained connected to the people and committed to delivering projects that impact lives.

Quoting the Commissioner for Works (Rural and Riverine Roads), Hon. Reuben Izeze, Esenwa affirmed that Oborevwori’s leadership “reflects a man who remembers his history and works to better the lives of his people.”

Hon. Esenwa reaffirmed the support of Oshimili North constituents for the Governor’s administration, pledging continued collaboration toward the realization of the MORE Agenda.

“When completed, the Ugbolu–Okpanam Road and other ongoing projects will stand as enduring testaments to what focused leadership can achieve connecting communities, expanding opportunities, and building a legacy of prosperity for all Deltans,” he concluded.
