The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed what it described as attempts by Senator Ovie Omo-Agege and the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) to discredit the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, insisting that the governor’s record of performance across the state remains evident and verifiable.
In a press statement issued on Saturday by the State Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo, the party rejected claims that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent remarks to governors were directed at the Delta State Government.
According to the APC, “At no point did President Tinubu single out Delta State or mention Governor Oborevwori by name,” accusing Omo-Agege’s media team of attempting to distort the President’s general advice to governors for political gain.
The party further stated that the President did not condemn the construction of flyovers but rather emphasised that such projects should be undertaken where necessary.
Highlighting the administration’s achievements, the APC said the Oborevwori government had gone beyond constructing flyovers, noting that over 2,000 kilometres of roads had been built, rehabilitated or were under construction across the state’s 25 local government areas.
It also pointed to the approval of ₦175 billion for grassroots infrastructure projects, with ₦7 billion allocated to each local government council.
The statement said the administration had made significant investments in healthcare through the upgrade of more than 150 primary healthcare centres, sustained free maternal and child healthcare, completed key health institutions, recruited over 200 health professionals and deployed modern medical equipment to improve service delivery.
In the education sector, the APC said more than 1,000 primary and secondary schools had been renovated and equipped, while state-owned tertiary institutions had received infrastructure upgrades. It added that thousands of teaching and non-teaching staff had also been recruited.
The party further claimed that more than 300,000 Deltans had benefited from empowerment programmes covering agriculture, technology, entrepreneurship and vocational skills, alongside grants for market women, artisans, widows and persons living with disabilities.
The APC also referenced the recent approval of ₦175 million in financial support for Delta indigenes displaced by xenophobic attacks in South Africa as evidence of what it described as the administration’s compassionate approach to governance.
On agriculture and security, the party said the government had continued to support farmers through subsidised inputs, livestock and aquaculture programmes, while providing vehicles and logistics to security agencies. It added that pension arrears had been addressed, salaries were paid promptly and investments in solar-powered streetlights, water schemes and electricity infrastructure were ongoing.
The statement also maintained that the achievements had been delivered “without borrowing a kobo,” while noting that the state had received recognition from independent organisations for governance, accountability and public financial management.
Defending the governor’s development strategy, the APC said infrastructure and social welfare were complementary.
“No responsible government abandons infrastructure in favour of social welfare, or vice versa. Roads, healthcare, education, agriculture, security, and empowerment are complementary priorities, and this administration has demonstrated that meaningful progress can be achieved across all sectors simultaneously,” the statement said.
The party said the state government remained focused on showcasing its achievements during the forthcoming Delta State Economic and Investment Summit 2026 in Asaba.
It urged residents to assess the administration based on “verifiable projects and measurable outcomes rather than politically motivated misinformation and distractions.”
