The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has commended the Ijaw Nation for adopting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as sole candidates for the 2027 general elections.
The party described the endorsement as a bold and significant political development that reflects growing confidence in the leadership of both men at the national and state levels.
In a statement issued by the State Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo, the APC said the decision by the Ijaw Nation was a clear demonstration of trust, unity, and satisfaction with the direction of governance under Tinubu and Oborevwori.
“This historic endorsement is more than a political declaration. It is a strong expression of confidence in leadership that is producing results and inspiring hope among the people,” the statement said.
According to the party, the support for President Tinubu shows that Nigerians are beginning to appreciate the long-term value of the economic and structural reforms being implemented by the Federal Government.
“Though the reforms require patience and sacrifice, they are laying the foundation for a stronger and more resilient economy. Nigerians can see a government that is ready to take difficult decisions today in order to secure a better future,” Onojeghuo stated.
The APC also praised Governor Oborevwori’s administration in Delta State, saying his M.O.R.E Agenda has continued to bring governance closer to the people through infrastructure renewal, youth empowerment, grassroots development, and social investment programmes.
“Governor Oborevwori has demonstrated purposeful and people-oriented leadership. Communities across Delta State are witnessing responsive governance that listens, delivers, and addresses the needs of the people,” the party added.
The statement further commended the Ijaw National Congress (INC) for providing what it described as a strong and united platform for the collective voice of the Ijaw people.
“The unity and clarity of purpose shown by the Ijaw Nation sends a powerful message that the people are ready to stand with leaders who have shown competence, sincerity, and commitment to development,” the APC said.
Calling on Deltans and Nigerians to support what it termed a progressive movement, the party said continuity in leadership would help sustain and expand the gains already recorded.
“The journey toward a greater Delta State and a more prosperous Nigeria is already underway, and with sustained support, the best is yet to come,” the statement concluded.
