Delta APC Hails Oborevwori Over Successful Governorship Screening

The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has congratulated Governor Sheriff Oborevwori following his successful screening by the party’s Governorship Screening Committee ahead of the 2027 Delta State governorship election.

The screening exercise, held in Abuja, was conducted by the APC National Governorship Screening Committee under the leadership of APC National Chairman, Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda.

The party, according to a statement issued by the State Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo said the committee carried out a comprehensive review of Governor Oborevwori’s credentials, performance in office, and public service record before clearing him to contest the party’s governorship primary.

The APC noted that the National Chairman’s directive to the governor to “take a bow and go” after the exercise symbolized what it described as “a strong endorsement” of the governor’s competence, integrity, and leadership record.

Reacting to the development, Delta APC Chairman, Solomon Arenyeka, described the successful screening as “a victory for progressive governance, purposeful leadership, and continuity in the developmental trajectory of Delta State.”

“Today’s successful screening of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori, is a moment of pride, joy, and renewed hope for the All Progressives Congress in Delta State,” Arenyeka said.

“It is a clear testament to the Governor’s integrity, leadership capacity, political acceptability, and remarkable achievements in governance.”

The APC chairman praised the governor’s stewardship of the state, citing infrastructural development, human capital growth, empowerment programmes, and peace-building efforts across Delta State.

According to him, Governor Oborevwori’s administration has continued to advance the MORE Agenda through road construction and rehabilitation projects, improvements in education and healthcare infrastructure, and youth and women empowerment initiatives.

“Governor Oborevwori has continued to redefine governance through his inclusive leadership style and unwavering commitment to the MORE Agenda,” Arenyeka stated.

He further maintained that the governor’s performance and growing popularity among Deltans had positioned him as the APC consensus candidate ahead of the 2027 governorship race.

“The overwhelming acceptance of Governor Oborevwori within our great party is not by accident,” he added.

“His performance in office, humility, accessibility, and dedication to the progress of Delta State have endeared him to party members, stakeholders, and the general public. This is why he is going into the primary process unopposed.”

The party also commended the APC National Working Committee and the screening committee for conducting what it described as a transparent and credible exercise.

Arenyeka called on party faithful, youths, women groups, and stakeholders across the state to remain united and committed to supporting the governor’s administration and the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.

“As a party, we are fully prepared and united ahead of the 2027 governorship election,” he said.

“We are confident that the people of Delta State will continue to support Governor Oborevwori because his administration has demonstrated sincerity of purpose, visible development, and responsive governance.”
