Delta APC Endorses Tinubu, Oborevwori as Sole Candidates for 2027 Elections

…….. Party Passes Confidence Vote at Asaba Stakeholders’ Meeting

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has passed a vote of confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, endorsing both as the party’s sole candidates for the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement was announced on Sunday during a high-powered stakeholders’ meeting held at the State Banquet Hall, Government House, Asaba. The gathering attracted party leaders, current and former lawmakers, commissioners, council chairmen, and political stakeholders from across Delta’s three senatorial districts.

The motion of confidence was moved by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, SAN, and seconded by former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei.

Keyamo, in his remarks, commended President Tinubu for what he described as “bold and transformative reforms” since assuming office. He highlighted the removal of fuel subsidy as a decisive policy that redirected substantial funds into infrastructure and economic recovery.

“Just two days ago, the President approved $1 billion for the resuscitation of the Warri Port, among other national projects like the Lagos-Calabar coastal road and the reconstruction of the Lagos Airport. These are direct outcomes of his fiscal prudence and policy reforms,” he stated.

Keyamo also praised Governor Oborevwori’s performance, citing ongoing infrastructural projects as evidence of purposeful leadership.

In his supporting remarks, Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei lauded both leaders for their inclusive approach to governance, stressing that the South-South region remains firmly behind their leadership. “The people of Delta and indeed the South-South are united in their support for the President and Governor Oborevwori, whose visions for a renewed Nigeria and Delta State align perfectly,” Ochei said.

Responding to the endorsement, Governor Oborevwori expressed gratitude to the APC stakeholders for the show of confidence, pledging continued commitment to the state’s development agenda.

“I sincerely thank you for this overwhelming confidence. The APC in Delta is growing stronger daily, and I can assure you that before the end of November, more governors will join us,” the Governor declared.

He reaffirmed his loyalty to President Tinubu, describing him as “a leader who rewards loyalty and results,” while cautioning against internal disloyalty within the party.

“Some individuals who didn’t work for the APC during the last elections have benefited unduly. We know them, and when the time comes, we’ll expose them. Loyalty will be rewarded this time,” he warned.

Highlighting his administration’s achievements, Oborevwori pointed to ongoing projects such as the ₦59 billion Uromi Junction Flyover, the ₦39 billion Ughelli Flyover, and the forthcoming rehabilitation of the Warri–Sapele Road.

“This is the only state where contractors are not owed. We pay 40% mobilization upfront because we are managing resources efficiently, and the President’s reforms are working,” he said.

Former Governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, also addressed the gathering, describing his defection to the APC as “a defining moment in Delta’s political history.” He lauded Tinubu’s economic policies as courageous and necessary, urging leaders to educate citizens on their long-term benefits.

“Joining the APC has united Delta’s political family. The party is stronger, more organized, and ready for a sweeping victory in 2027,” Okowa stated.

APC State Chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie, hailed Governor Oborevwori’s leadership, declaring that the Governor’s performance had made the party “formidable and unstoppable.”

Other notable speakers included Chief Paulinus Akpeki (Delta Central APC Chairman), Chief Adizue Eluaka (Delta North), and Austin Oribioye (Delta South), who all pledged unity and victory for the party.

Representing the National Assembly, Senators Ede Dafinone, Ned Nwoko, Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, and Hon. Nicholas Mutu jointly declared that “there is no vacancy till 2031,” vowing total support for the President and Governor.

Prominent party figures such as Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, Senators Peter Nwaoboshi, and James Manager echoed the sentiment, assuring of massive votes for Tinubu and Oborevwori in the next election.

ALGON representative and Bomadi Council Chairman, Hon. Dagidi Andaye, affirmed the commitment of all council chairmen to the 2027 victory, while former APC National Women Leader, Hon. Stella Okotete, called for greater women inclusion in party leadership.

Delta Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, also pledged the legislature’s total support, while the Forum of LGA Party Chairmen, represented by Mr. Nobert Akachukwu, praised the Governor’s leadership for revitalizing the party.

The event concluded on a note of celebration and unity, with delegates affirming renewed confidence in the leadership of President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori ahead of 2027.
