The Delta State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the ruling party in the state, has commended the Governor of Delta State and leader of the party in the state, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for the presentation of 65 brand new vehicles to traditional rulers across Delta State.
This commendation was contained in a detailed statement issued to pressmen in Asaba, the state capital, by the State Publicity Secretary of the Party, Valentine Onojeghuo, Esq., who described the initiative as a bold reflection of the Governor’s exemplary, responsive, and people-focused leadership style.
According to the statement, the provision of the vehicles is a strategic intervention aimed at strengthening traditional institutions and enhancing the capacity of traditional rulers to effectively discharge their statutory and cultural responsibilities, particularly in the areas of grassroots governance, conflict resolution, peacebuilding, and community development.
“The Delta APC is immensely proud of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, a committed member and leader of our great party, for once again demonstrating visionary and inclusive leadership in the administration of our state,” Onojeghuo stated. “This thoughtful gesture clearly shows the Governor’s appreciation of the indispensable role traditional rulers play in sustaining peace, security, and social harmony across Delta State.”
The party further noted that Governor Oborevwori has exceeded the expectations of Deltans based on the promises made during his electioneering campaign, stressing that his performance in office has gone beyond campaign assurances and translated into tangible results that are positively impacting the lives of the people.
According to the APC, the Oborevwori administration has continued to record remarkable achievements in human capital development, driven by policies that prioritize the welfare of the people, institutional strengthening, and inclusive participation in governance. These deliberate efforts, the party noted, have translated into an unprecedented level of peace and security across the state, creating an enabling environment for growth, investment, and sustainable community development, in line with the Governor’s M.O.R.E. Agenda.
Onojeghuo further emphasized that the prevailing peace in the state is a direct outcome of the Governor’s consultative leadership style, proactive engagement with traditional rulers, and strong synergy with security agencies and other relevant stakeholders.
“Under the leadership of His Excellency, Delta State has continued to witness stability, unity, and social cohesion. His administration’s commitment to empowering traditional rulers has further reinforced grassroots peace and strengthened trust between government and local communities,” he added.
Responding on behalf of the traditional rulers, the Orodje of Okpe, His Royal Majesty, Maj. Gen. Felix Mujakperuo (rtd.), expressed profound gratitude to the Governor for the gesture, describing it as timely and unprecedented. He assured the Governor and the people of Delta State that the vehicles would be judiciously utilized to enhance traditional rulers’ engagement at the grassroots and to further promote peace, security, and harmony across the state.
The Orodje of Okpe further noted that the vehicles play a significant role in leadership, describing them as symbols of authority that would aid traditional rulers in effectively carrying out their responsibilities. He prayed for the continued success of the Oborevwori administration, commending the Governor for what he described as a “marvelous job” in the governance of the state. The monarch expressed confidence that at the conclusion of Governor Oborevwori’s constitutionally permitted eight-year tenure, his record of performance would qualify him for higher national responsibilities to continue the good work he is presently doing in Delta State.
The Delta APC reaffirmed its unflinching support for the Governor’s developmental agenda, noting that the party remains united behind his leadership as he continues to deliver purposeful, people-oriented, and accountable governance to the people of Delta State.
The statement concluded with a call on all Deltans, particularly traditional rulers and community leaders, to sustain their cooperation with the Oborevwori administration in order to consolidate the gains already recorded in peace, security, and human capital development, and to collectively work towards a more prosperous, united, and secure Delta State.
