The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) is set to commence the emergency intervention and rehabilitation of failed sections of the Effurun-Benin Express Road, in a move aimed at improving road connectivity, transportation and economic activities in the Niger Delta region.
The flag-off ceremony for the Ajomata/Ibada-Elume–Amukpe–Oghara section of the road is scheduled to take place on Friday, August 28, 2026, at 12:00 p.m.
The event will be held at the Amukpe Roundabout along the Benin-Sapele Road in Delta State, bringing together stakeholders and residents to mark the commencement of the intervention project.
The NDDC said the project represents another significant step towards addressing critical infrastructure challenges in the Niger Delta and improving the movement of people, goods and services across the region.
The rehabilitation of the failed sections is expected to enhance road safety, reduce travel difficulties and strengthen connectivity between communities and major commercial centres along the busy Benin-Sapele corridor.
The Commission also invited members of the public to follow the flag-off ceremony live across its digital platforms as it continues its efforts to deliver transformative infrastructure projects for the people of the Niger Delta.
