Egware Emerges Chairman of Emevor Progress Union, Asaba Branch

Executive Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Media, Dr. Nelson Egware, has been elected Chairman of the Emevor Progress Union (EPU), Asaba branch.

Dr. Egware emerged unopposed during the Union’s April monthly meeting held in Asaba, alongside other executive members who were also elected into key positions. Mr. Joseph Awoh was elected Vice Chairman, Simeon Ebewore as Secretary, and Doris Ogheneruemu as Assistant Secretary.

Also elected were Chris-Mark Erukaye as Financial Secretary and Mrs. Beatrice Agboro, who was re-elected as Treasurer. Mr. Oghoghome Ukpedor emerged as Publicity Secretary, while Awoh Lucky and Samson Adaighofua were elected Provost 1 and Provost 2 respectively.

Dr. Egware takes over leadership of the Asaba branch from Professor Sunny Ekakitie, who presided over the Union’s affairs for more than three years.

In his handover remarks, Prof. Ekakitie expressed appreciation to members for their support throughout his tenure, noting that the Union recorded significant progress under his leadership.

He urged the newly elected executives to leverage their experience in advancing the Union’s objectives, particularly in promoting peace, unity, and development within the Emevor community.

In his maiden address, Dr. Egware thanked members for the confidence reposed in him and the new executive, assuring them of their commitment to service. He called for the cooperation and support of all members to enable the leadership achieve its goals.

He also appealed to indigenes of Emevor residing in Asaba and its environs to actively participate in the Union’s activities, noting that meetings are held every third Sunday of the month at the residence of Sir Simeon Ukpedor, located at 12 Ochokwu Street, off Okpanam Road, by Globus Bank, Asaba, at 4 p.m.

The highlight of the meeting was the formal handover of leadership to the newly elected executive.
