2027: Anyafulu Presents Scorecard of Impactful Representation, Woos APC Leaders In Oshimili South, Seeks Second Term

Member representing Oshimili South Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Honourable Bridget Anyafulu, has formally consulted with leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the local government area, declaring her intention to seek re-election ahead of the next general election.

The strategic meeting, which drew party elders, ward leaders, stakeholders and grassroots mobilisers, was widely seen as a significant step in the build-up to the 2027 political season.

The event commenced with opening remarks by the Director General of the consultation team, Mr. Chukwudum Ezinwa, who welcomed party faithful and appreciated them for their commitment to the growth of the party. A minute of silence was thereafter observed in honour of the late Ogbueshi Iweanya Anthony Attoh, whose passing was described as a painful loss to the political family.

Mr. Ezinwa then formally presented Honourable Anyafulu to the gathering, describing her as “a tested leader whose record of service speaks loudly across every ward in Oshimili South.”

Addressing the stakeholders, Honourable Anyafulu expressed gratitude to the party leadership for granting her the platform to engage directly with them, while commending both President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for ongoing developmental strides in Delta State and Oshimili South.

She also appreciated the council chairman, councillors and constituents for the confidence reposed in her over the past three years.

“By June, it will be three years since you entrusted me with the mandate to represent our people. I have not taken that trust for granted. I came today not just to ask for your support, but to render account of stewardship and renew my commitment to quality representation,” she said.

The lawmaker stressed that her style of leadership has remained anchored on transparency, accessibility and people-driven governance, noting that regular briefings and constituency-wide needs assessments have guided her interventions.

Giving an overview of her achievements, Anyafulu disclosed that no fewer than 66 roads across the constituency have been properly documented and presented for intervention, with Oko Road receiving top priority attention. She added that several of the roads are already under construction or at various stages of execution.

On legislative performance, she highlighted her active participation on the floor of the House through motions addressing pressing social concerns, as well as co-sponsorship of bills focused on youth development, social protection and welfare reforms.

According to her, the committee she serves on has also conducted five public hearings, creating opportunities for citizen participation in lawmaking.

“Representation goes beyond occupying a seat in the chamber. It means speaking for the voiceless, attracting development, and ensuring that government policies touch the lives of ordinary people,” she stated.

The lawmaker further outlined interventions in key social sectors, revealing that over 80,000 exercise books have been distributed to pupils and students across the constituency to support learning.

She also disclosed that land was facilitated for the establishment of a secondary school, while more than 1,000 indigent persons benefited from healthcare access initiatives under her watch.

In the area of economic empowerment, she said market women and small business owners received financial assistance to boost their livelihoods, while persons living with disabilities benefited from targeted welfare support.

She added that several youths from the constituency were linked to employment and empowerment opportunities through deliberate advocacy and partnerships.

Having presented her scorecard, Honourable Anyafulu formally requested the support of the party leadership and stakeholders for a second term mandate, assuring them that greater dividends of democracy would follow if given another opportunity.

“The foundation has been laid. With your support for a second term, we will consolidate on these gains and deliver even more for every community in Oshimili South,” she declared.

Responding on behalf of the party, the APC Chairman in Oshimili South, Ogbueshi Dada Okolo, praised the lawmaker for what he described as visible performance, inclusiveness and sustained grassroots engagement.

He noted that the party leadership would continue consultations and make decisions that align with the collective interest of the people as preparations gather momentum for the next elections.

“Honourable Bridget Anyafulu has demonstrated commitment to service and has remained connected to the grassroots. The party will do what is best for Oshimili South after due consultation with stakeholders,” Okolo said.
