“You Are A Symbol of Hope to a Generation” — Guwor Salutes Tompolo at 55

The Chairman, Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria and Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has felicitated with the celebrated Niger Delta icon, High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, on the occasion of his 55th birthday anniversary.

Rt. Hon. Guwor, who is a nephew to the celebrant, described Tompolo as a legendary figure whose courage, sacrifice, and commitment to the peace and development of Nigeria, especially in the Niger Delta region, have left an indelible mark on history.

In a goodwill message released in Asaba by his Chief Press Secretary, CPS, Nkem Nwaeke, the Speaker extolled High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo’s contributions to women and youth empowerment, community development, and the protection of national assets.

“Today, I join millions of Niger Deltans, Nigerians, and all lovers of peace and development across nations, to celebrate a living legend, my uncle and leader, High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo. Your life is a testimony of resilience, fearless advocacy, and uncommon love for our people,” Guwor said.

The Speaker maintained that the Celebrant have consistently stood in the gap for the marginalized and have given voice to the voiceless, which is the hallmark of true leadership.

“You are not just a father figure to me personally, but a symbol of hope to an entire generation. Your interventions in critical times restored peace where there was conflict, and your vision has continued to inspire others, including governments at all levels, in the pursuit of a better nation.

“From Gbaramatu to the creeks and beyond, your name commands respect because it is built on sacrifice. The people are proud to walk the path you cleared” Guwor state.

The Conference of Speakers Chairman also noted that Tompolo’s role in stabilising the Niger Delta and mentoring young leaders across the region remains a reference point in leadership, patriotism, and commitment to changing the narrative for a better tomorrow.

The Delta Speaker stressed that Tompolo’s investment in human capital and the peace he has brokered are legacies that will speak and outlive many generations.

Rt Hon Guwor, on behalf of his family, constituents of Warri South West, the Delta State House of Assembly, and the leadership and members of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria, wished the Ebipamowei of Gbaramatu Kingdom joy, happiness, peace, good health, and greater accomplishments.

“As you mark your 55th birthday anniversary today, I pray that the Almighty God grants you long life, sound health, and greater wisdom. May your new age bring you peace and the fulfillment of seeing the Niger Delta of your dreams.

“May your strength be renewed like the eagle’s, and may your best years still be ahead. Happy birthday, my very reliable mentor and uncle”, Guwor added.
