Trump Announces Ceasefire with Iran Following Talks with Pakistan

In a significant development with potential global implications, President of the United States of America, Donald J. Trump has announced a two-week suspension of planned military action against Iran, citing diplomatic engagements involving Pakistani leadership.

According to the statement, the decision followed discussions with Shehbaz Sharif and Asim Munir, who urged restraint and a pause in hostilities. Trump said he agreed to “suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for a period of two weeks,” describing the move as part of a “double sided ceasefire.”

The U.S. President noted that the pause is conditional on Iran’s cooperation, particularly regarding maritime security. He stated that the ceasefire is “subject to the Islamic Republic of Iran agreeing to the complete, immediate, and safe opening of the Strait of Hormuz.”

Trump further claimed that military objectives had already been achieved, saying, “we have already met and exceeded all military objectives, and are very far along with a definitive agreement concerning longterm peace with Iran, and peace in the Middle East.”

He also revealed that Washington had received a diplomatic proposal from Tehran, describing it as a potential breakthrough. “We received a 10 point proposal from Iran, and believe it is a workable basis on which to negotiate,” he said, adding that “almost all of the various points of past contention have been agreed to.”

The two-week window, according to Trump, is intended to allow both sides to finalize and formalize a comprehensive agreement. “A two week period will allow the agreement to be finalized and consummated,” he said.

Framing the development as a major step toward stability, Trump concluded, “it is an honor to have this longterm problem close to resolution.”

The announcement, if realized, could mark a turning point in relations between the United States and Iran, as well as broader efforts to secure peace across the Middle East.
