Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has urged Deltans to embrace love, unity and Christ-like living as they celebrate Christmas, describing these virtues as essential to peaceful coexistence and sustainable development in the state.
In a Christmas message released by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the governor encouraged residents to reflect on the values of sacrifice, compassion and selfless service embodied by Jesus Christ, and to recommit themselves to building a harmonious society.
Governor Oborevwori praised the people of the state for their resilience and continued support for his administration, noting that their cooperation has played a key role in the progress recorded so far. He said the yuletide season provides an opportunity for thanksgiving and renewed hope, while reassuring Deltans of his government’s commitment to good governance and inclusive development under the MORE Agenda.
Highlighting achievements recorded in the past two years, the governor pointed to significant strides in infrastructure, healthcare, education, youth empowerment, agriculture and security. According to him, ongoing road and flyover projects across the state, improvements in healthcare facilities and sustained investments in human capital development underscore his administration’s resolve to improve the welfare of the people.
He also acknowledged progress in workers’ welfare, peacebuilding initiatives and social intervention programmes targeting vulnerable groups such as widows, women and youths, noting that these efforts have contributed to stability and economic growth across the state.
Looking ahead, Governor Oborevwori disclosed that the 2026 Delta State budget contains robust provisions aimed at further improving living conditions. He explained that the budget prioritises infrastructure expansion, job creation, education, healthcare, agriculture and youth empowerment to drive sustainable growth and shared prosperity.
“The 2026 budget is designed to consolidate our gains and address the needs of our people, ensuring that development reaches all parts of the state,” he said.
The governor reaffirmed his commitment to people-oriented policies and inclusive development, assuring that no community would be left behind. He called on residents to continue supporting his administration and to uphold peace, tolerance and unity as key ingredients for long-term development.
While wishing Deltans a joyous Christmas, Governor Oborevwori prayed for a peaceful and prosperous New Year, expressing optimism that the state would witness greater progress and expanded economic opportunities in the years ahead.
