PENGASSAN Denies Court Injunction, Orders Members to Sustain Strike

The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has dismissed reports of a court injunction halting its nationwide strike, directing members to continue the industrial action until official communication from its leadership.

In a memo signed by its General Secretary, Comrade Lumumba Okugbawa, the union described the alleged injunction as “mere rumours” circulating on social media, stressing that no such order had been served through lawful channels.
“Court orders or processes are served via court bailiff and not through social media,” the directive stated, urging members to disregard the claims and remain resolute.

Commending workers for their solidarity, Okugbawa assured them that the union remains committed to the cause. “We have just begun and victory is in sight,” he declared.

PENGASSAN further advised members to seek clarifications only through the Association’s official structures, warning that only information disseminated by its leadership should be considered authentic.

The strike, declared by the union’s National Executive Council, has already grounded operations across key oil and gas institutions nationwide.
