Warri South West Constituency: Guwor Visits Project sites, Reaffirms Commitment to Grassroots Development

The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has embarked on an inspection tour of several ongoing constituency projects in Warri South West, reaffirming his commitment to delivering impactful development across riverine communities.

Guwor, who represents Warri South West Constituency, visited multiple project sites over the weekend to assess the level of work done and ensure timely completion. The projects, spread across the ten wards of the constituency, cover key sectors including education, healthcare, infrastructure, and social services.

Among the projects inspected were classroom blocks at Raymond Primary School, Costain, the Ugborodo modern market, Ogidigben Road, Ogidigben Hospital, Madangho community road, Oporoza School, and the Battan school renovation. Others include the Naifor Island School project, solar-powered street lighting installations, housing units in Akpakpa and Kantu, Oporoza town hall, Bisobo Primary School renovation, Opuedebubor jetty, and road projects in Ijaghalla and Okerenkoko.

Speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Nkem Nwaeke, the Speaker emphasized that the projects are designed to improve the quality of life for residents in the riverine areas.

“These projects are deliberately spread across communities to address critical needs and uplift the living standards of our people,” Guwor stated. “We are focused on building a sustainable foundation for long-term development in Warri South West.”

He also commended the administration of Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, noting that the projects align with the government’s broader agenda of bridging infrastructure gaps and enhancing rural livelihoods.

“The governor’s commitment to equitable development is evident in the scale and reach of these projects. Together, we are ensuring that no community is left behind,” he added.

Guwor urged residents to take ownership of the projects by safeguarding public infrastructure from vandalism, stressing that community cooperation would encourage more government interventions.

“Protecting these facilities is a collective responsibility. When communities value and secure public assets, it paves the way for even more development,” he said.

Residents across the communities expressed appreciation to both the Speaker and Governor for attracting the projects, describing them as timely interventions that would boost socio-economic activities.

However, they also highlighted lingering challenges, particularly the shortage of teachers in public schools, and called on the government to address the issue.

“We are grateful for the visible development, but we also appeal for more teachers in our schools to complement these efforts,” a community member said.

The inspection tour underscores ongoing efforts by the state government and legislative leadership to expand development to underserved riverine communities while addressing critical infrastructure and social needs.
