SUBEB Partners Delta Govt for 5-Day Teacher Training Workshop

The State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) in collaboration with the Delta State Government is hosting a five-day Capacity Building Workshop for 150 teachers drawn from the 25 local government areas across the state.

The training, titled Strengthening Teacher English Proficiency (STEP), is designed to equip teachers with essential skills required to communicate effectively in the classroom.

The workshop will focus on shifting from traditional teaching methods to modern learner-centred approaches where learners actively participate in the teaching and learning process.

A joint statement by Hon. (Barr.) Samuel Mariere, Executive Chairman of SUBEB, and Mrs. Eru Ezefili, Director of Teacher Development Department, SUBEB, said the training is residential and will hold from February 9th to 13th, 2026.

Venue is at Peace Garden Hotel International, No. 1 Justus Street, Igretakpere, Ughelli, Ughelli North local government area of Delta State.

“The workshop places emphasis on a paradigm shift from traditional teaching methods to modern learner-centered approaches where learners actively participate in the teaching and learning process. It is residential and scheduled to hold from 9th to 13th February, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. daily
