Rainoil Limited has marked a major milestone in its operations with the arrival of MT Princess Oge, a 45,000-metric-ton oil product tanker, on her maiden voyage into Nigerian waters.
Built in Japan, the vessel boasts a deadweight tonnage of 45,996MT and successfully discharged 20,000MT of petrol at Rainoil’s depot in Ijegun, Lagos. This development represents a significant boost to Nigeria’s petroleum product distribution network.
Speaking during the vessel’s reception, Dr. Gabriel Ogbechie, Group Managing Director of Rainoil Ltd., described the arrival as a landmark achievement for the company and a strategic investment in the country’s downstream and maritime sectors.
“The acquisition and reception of MT Princess Oge is more than just an expansion of our logistics capabilities,” he said. “It is a long-term commitment to building the infrastructure needed to ensure Nigeria’s energy security. At Rainoil, we believe the private sector must lead in strengthening the energy value chain, making it more resilient, efficient, and globally competitive.”
Dr. Ogbechie emphasized that the vessel enhances Rainoil’s capacity to maintain a consistent and reliable supply of petroleum products across Nigeria.
Echoing this sentiment, Mrs. Ese Erokoro, Group Head of Retail Sales, highlighted the strategic importance of the vessel to Rainoil’s logistics and retail operations.
“This vessel is a clear demonstration of our commitment to being a leading energy provider in Nigeria,” she said. “It also speaks to our pursuit of operational excellence. We are proud to welcome MT Princess Oge and pray for her safe and successful voyages.”
The reception ceremony was attended by key executives from Rainoil, including Mrs. Uche Umeh, Group Chief Financial Officer; Ms. Oge Ogbechie, Retail Executive; and Mr. Larry Onwochei, Trading Manager.
