Just In: FG Declares October 1 Public Holiday To Mark Independence Day

The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, October 1, 2025, as a public holiday to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Monday by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, on behalf of the Minister, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

While congratulating Nigerians at home and abroad, Tunji-Ojo urged citizens to continue to uphold the spirit of patriotism, unity, and resilience that have sustained the nation since 1960.

He also called on Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which he said is focused on national rebirth, economic transformation, and shared prosperity.

According to the Minister, Nigeria will continue to record progress and development with the collective cooperation of its people.
He wished Nigerians a peaceful and memorable Independence Day celebration.
