Delta State Government has suspended Dr. Charles Olise, a member representing the Ndokwa Ethnic Nationality on the Board of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), over alleged misconduct at work.
The suspension, which takes immediate effect from Tuesday, October 7, 2025, was contained in a letter issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Eze Emu, and addressed to Dr. Olise.
According to the letter with reference number SGD.777/T4/80, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori expressed serious concern over reports of Dr. Olise’s conduct, describing it as capable of undermining the ethical and professional standards of the Commission.

“The Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has noted with serious concern, reports of your misconduct at work which is capable of polluting the ethical and professional standards underpinning the general affairs of the Commission,” the letter stated.
Dr. Emu further disclosed that the Governor had directed Dr. Olise to proceed on a three-month suspension without pay or other entitlements attached to his position.
“Accordingly, the Governor has directed that you proceed on immediate suspension for a period of three (3) months with effect from today, 7th October, 2025, and without the regular entitlements applicable to your position,” the letter read in part.
The suspended board member has also been instructed to hand over all Commission property in his possession to the Managing Director of DESOPADEC for the duration of the suspension.
The development has generated discussions within government circles and the oil-producing communities, with observers noting that the Governor’s action underscores his administration’s stance on accountability and discipline in public service.
The Delta State Government, however, has yet to provide specific details of the allegations leading to the suspension.
