The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has expressed deep sorrow over the death of elder statesman and party stalwart, Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi, describing his passing as a painful loss to the party, Delta State and Nigeria at large.
In a statement issued on Friday by the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Valentine Onojeghuo (Esq.), the APC, under the leadership of its State Chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie, said the late Senator was a respected leader and the immediate past Senator who represented Delta North Senatorial District at the National Assembly.
The party noted that Senator Nwaoboshi remained actively involved in the political and democratic life of the country until his final days, adding that his death marked the end of an era of courageous and principled political engagement.
Reacting to the development, Elder Sobotie described the late lawmaker as a committed party man and a fearless advocate for his people. He said Senator Nwaoboshi was not only a ranking former legislator but also a loyal member of the APC who believed strongly in participatory politics and selfless service.
According to the APC chairman, the late Senator distinguished himself at the National Assembly through purposeful legislative contributions and consistent advocacy for issues affecting oil-producing communities in Delta State and the overall development of the Niger Delta region.
Elder Sobotie further said Senator Nwaoboshi’s political career was marked by courage, conviction and an unwavering readiness to stand firm on matters he believed in, noting that his influence transcended party lines and left an enduring imprint on Delta State’s political history.
The Delta APC extended its heartfelt condolences to the immediate family of the deceased, the people of Delta North Senatorial District, the Anioma nation, and members of the APC across the state and the country.
The party also prayed for God to grant the late Senator eternal rest and give those mourning him the strength to bear the irreparable loss.
