The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has commended the Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, for approving over ₦400 billion worth of strategic infrastructure and development projects across the state.
The party said the projects, which cut across the three senatorial districts and several communities in the state, demonstrate the Governor’s commitment to equitable development and improved living standards for residents.
In a statement issued by the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Valentine Onojeghuo, the Delta APC described the large-scale approvals as a bold step towards accelerating development in key sectors including road infrastructure, erosion control, security architecture, judicial facilities and education.
According to the party, the wide spread of the projects across communities such as Warri, Udu, Ughelli, Asaba, Sapele, Oghara, Abraka, Agbor, Kwale, Bomadi and Burutu reflects a deliberate effort by the administration to ensure balanced infrastructural development across the state.
“What we are witnessing is governance in action. These projects are not mere announcements; they are real interventions that will directly improve the lives of ordinary people across Delta State,” the statement said.
The party particularly highlighted some of the major projects to include the reconstruction of the Warri Internal Ring Road Phase Two, the rehabilitation of the Trans-Warri Ode-Itsekiri Road, reconstruction of the Eku-Osubi Road Phase Two, and the rehabilitation of the Jesse–Boboroko Road, alongside several road construction projects across Isoko, Ndokwa, Ika, Oshimili, Okpe and Ughelli areas.
The APC further applauded the Governor’s initiative to strengthen security and the justice system through the construction of police divisional headquarters across the 25 local government areas of the state, as well as the renovation of magistrate and customary courts and the construction of judges’ quarters in Osubi and Asaba.
“Security remains the foundation upon which development thrives. By investing in police facilities and strengthening judicial institutions across the state, the government is taking practical steps to ensure safer communities, a more efficient justice system and an enabling environment for businesses to grow,” the party stated.
The statement also acknowledged the administration’s commitment to education and human capital development, citing the completion of the Senate/Administrative Building at Delta State University, Abraka, as well as the construction of male and female hostels in state-owned universities.
“Education remains one of the most strategic investments any government can make. Improving infrastructure in our universities strengthens the learning environment and prepares young people for leadership and economic participation,” the party noted.
The APC said the scale and distribution of the projects show that Governor Oborevwori’s administration remains committed to inclusive governance and sustainable development across Delta State.
“Governor Oborevwori has once again demonstrated that leadership is about service, vision and commitment to the welfare of the people. The approval of over ₦400 billion for development projects clearly reflects a government that understands the needs of its citizens and is determined to meet them,” the statement added.
While commending the Governor for the initiative, the party urged contractors handling the various projects to adhere strictly to quality standards and ensure timely completion of the works.
“We call on contractors to deliver projects that meet the highest standards of quality and durability. These investments are too important to the future of our state to be compromised by poor execution,” the party said.
The APC also encouraged communities across the state to support the projects and cooperate with the government to ensure smooth and successful implementation.
The party reaffirmed its commitment to supporting policies and programmes that promote development and improve the welfare of the people.
“When a government takes bold steps that advance infrastructure, security, education and institutional development, such efforts deserve recognition and support. Governance should ultimately be about the welfare and prosperity of the people,” the statement concluded.
The party expressed confidence that the approved projects would significantly transform infrastructure, stimulate economic growth and further position Delta State as one of Nigeria’s leading states in sustainable development and good governance.
