Delta APC Hails Arenyeka-Led Exco, Dismisses SaharaReporters’ ‘Crisis’ Claim as Fabricated

The All Progressives Congress (APC), Delta State Chapter, has congratulated its newly elected State Chairman, Chief Solomon Arenyeka, and members of the State Executive Committee (SEC) following what it described as a historic and unified congress across the state. The party also strongly condemned a report by SaharaReporters alleging a deepening crisis within its ranks, dismissing it as “misleading, sensational and politically motivated.”

In a statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo, Esq., the party said the just-concluded Ward, Local Government and State Congresses were conducted peacefully and transparently, culminating in the emergence of a “formidable and harmonized” leadership team. “For starters, we heartily congratulate our newly elected State Chairman, Chief Solomon Arenyeka, and his entire State Executive Committee on their well-deserved emergence through a broad-based consensus process that reflects the collective will of party stakeholders across the State,” the statement read.

The APC maintained that contrary to the claims of division, there was no parallel congress held anywhere in the state. “Let it be stated clearly and without ambiguity that there was no parallel congress anywhere in Delta State — not in any of the 270 wards, nor the 25 Local Government Areas and certainly not at the State level,” the party declared. It added that, for the first time in its congress history in Delta, no factional chairman emerged from any supposed parallel process, describing this as a singular achievement that “completely demolished the contrived narrative of division.”

The party attributed the seamless conduct of the congresses to the leadership style of the Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori. According to the statement, the governor adopted a constitutionally backed, consensus-driven model after extensive consultations with critical stakeholders. “The unprecedented success recorded is not accidental. It is the manifestation of a deliberate initiative under the courageous and inclusive leadership of His Excellency,” the APC said, noting that unity was prioritized above personal ambition and collective victory placed above individual interest.

Describing the outcome as “nothing short of a political miracle,” the party said it had undergone strategic structural re-engineering, integrating legacy members and new entrants with “political maturity, discipline and foresight.” It stressed that the new State Executive Committee is “solid, harmonized and battle-ready,” and capable of driving the party’s expansion ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The APC further criticized attempts to equate the absence of certain individuals at events with a crisis. “It is intellectually dishonest and journalistically irresponsible for anyone to equate the absence of a few individuals at an event with a crisis. Attendance at political gatherings is not the sign of party unity,” the statement read, insisting that institutional order, absence of factional structures and general acceptance of outcomes were the true measures of cohesion.

Reaffirming its confidence in the Arenyeka-led executive, the party said Delta APC has transitioned into a cohesive and strategically fortified structure poised for electoral victories at all levels in 2027 and beyond. “Delta APC is not in crisis. It is consolidated, disciplined and strategically repositioned,” the statement concluded, urging members to remain steadfast and calling on media organizations to verify facts before publishing politically motivated conjectures.
