APC Applauds Oborevwori Over Agbor Flyover Project, Says Delta Witnessing Purposeful Governance

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has commended Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, for what it described as purposeful leadership and an aggressive drive toward infrastructural renewal across the state.

In a statement released in Abuja on Tuesday, the party praised the governor for officially flagging off the construction of the Uromi Junction Flyover in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area, on Monday, January 19, 2026. The ₦59.7 billion project, awarded to Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, is billed for completion within 14 months.

According to the APC, the flyover represents a decisive response to years of fatal accidents at the Agbor interchange, which it described as one of the most dangerous traffic points in the state. “This project addresses a long-standing safety challenge that has claimed several lives and caused untold hardship to commuters,” the party said, adding that the intervention fulfills a major aspiration of the people of Agbor and the wider Ika Nation.

While noting that Agbor is the immediate beneficiary, the APC stressed that the flyover has far-reaching national importance due to its strategic position linking major routes across the East, West, North and South-South. “Beyond easing traffic congestion, the project will enhance security, stimulate economic activities and significantly improve the wellbeing of residents and road users,” the statement read.

The party further observed that the Agbor groundbreaking followed closely on the heels of the ₦39.3 billion Otovwodo Junction Flyover flagged off in Ughelli, Ughelli North Local Government Area. With additional projects ongoing at PTI Junction, DSC Roundabout and Enerhen Junction, the APC noted that five flyovers are currently under construction in Delta State, describing the development as “clear evidence of the administration’s commitment to urban renewal and improved living standards.”

Beyond infrastructure, the APC praised Governor Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda—Meaningful development, Opportunities for all, Realistic reforms, and Enhanced peace and security. It highlighted initiatives such as the clearance of pension and gratuity arrears, investments in human capital development, monthly stipends for 10,000 widows, MSME recapitalisation in partnership with the Bank of Industry, increased funding for tertiary institutions, and the procurement of advanced diagnostic equipment for state-owned hospitals.

The party also commended the governor for aligning Delta State with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. “Improved federal allocations to sub-national governments have strengthened Delta State’s capacity to deliver tangible dividends of democracy under Governor Oborevwori’s leadership,” the APC said. It recalled that in April 2025, the governor led the entire structure of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State into the APC, a move the party said encouraged broader support for the president’s economic reforms.

The Agbor flyover ceremony attracted several dignitaries, including Deputy Governor Sir Monday Onyeme; former Delta State Governor and South-South Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Initiative, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa; the Dein of Agbor, His Royal Majesty Benjamin Ikechukwu, Keagborekuzi I; member representing Ika Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Victor Nwokolo; APC National Publicity Secretary, Barr. Felix Morka, CON; Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu; lawmakers, government officials, and traditional leaders. The Chairman of Ika South Local Government Area, Hon. Jerry Ehiwarior, served as chief host.

Urging the governor to remain steadfast, the APC concluded, “Governor Oborevwori has demonstrated that people-oriented governance, when matched with prudent use of resources, can deliver real and lasting impact. We encourage him to sustain this momentum for the benefit of all Deltans.”
