Oborevwori Urges APC, Deltans to Intensify Voter Registration Efforts

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has called on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the people of Delta State to ramp up mobilisation of eligible voters, particularly those who have not yet registered, for the ongoing voter registration exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Speaking on Tuesday at the Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba, during an expanded meeting of APC leaders from the ward, local government, and state levels, Governor Oborevwori emphasised the importance of ensuring that citizens who have turned 18 since the last registration in 2022 take part in the process in preparation for the 2027 general elections.

He explained that the meeting was aimed at reinforcing party unity and consolidating efforts toward electoral success. The Governor expressed confidence in the APC’s performance both at the federal and state levels, stressing that unity remained the party’s greatest asset heading into future elections.

“With unity in our party, no other political party can defeat the APC. We are delivering results at the federal level under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and we are equally making progress in Delta. The issue of voters’ registration is crucial, and we must not take it lightly. From the ward level, ensure that those who missed the previous registration are captured this time,” he stated.

Also speaking, the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, charged both elected and appointed party officials to return to their respective wards and local government areas to drive voter mobilisation. He emphasized that teamwork was key to realising the APC’s “Renewed Hope for More” agenda.

In his address, the State Chairman of the APC, Elder Omeni Sobotie, echoed the call for unity, urging members to work together to enhance the party’s chances in upcoming elections.

Another party chieftain, Chief Solomon Arenyeka, appealed to aggrieved members to set aside their differences and collaborate for the overall growth of the party and development of the state.

Speaking to journalists after the meeting, the State Publicity Secretary of the APC, Mr. Valentine Onojeghuo, said the meeting was primarily focused on strengthening internal cohesion and increasing awareness of the ongoing voter registration exercise.

“Our top priority is unity within the party. Without unity, there can be no loyalty. Secondly, it is crucial that all eligible young people turning 18 are registered. Once we achieve this, the 2027 general elections will be within our grasp,” Onojeghuo stated.
