A philanthropist and top aide to the immediate past Governor of Delta State, Dr. Hilary Obi Ibegbulem, has began the period of mourning over the loss of his father, Elder Gilbert Ibegbulem.
On Friday, Dr. Hilary, in the company by his brother, Franklin Ibegbulem, arrived at their country home in Ute-Okpu community, Ika North-East Local Government Area, Delta State. In line with cultural tradition, they formally informed their kinsmen of their father’s passing, marking the commencement of a four-day traditional funeral rite in honour of the late patriarch.
The community warmly received the bereaved family and immediately commenced customary rites for the respected elder, fondly known as Papa Gilbert.
As the rites began, Dr. Hilary welcomed several dignitaries on condolence visits. Notably, his principal and political leader, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, paid a visit to the Ute-Okpu residence.
The former governor offered words of solace and prayed for the peaceful repose of Papa Gilbert’s soul, commending his legacy and the values he instilled in his children.
