President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, on his re-election, describing the outcome of the poll as a clear endorsement of effective governance and visionary leadership.
Governor Soludo, who contested on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), was declared winner of Saturday’s off-cycle governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), having secured victory in all 21 local government areas of the state.
In a personally signed statement issued on Sunday, President Tinubu commended the people of Anambra State for conducting themselves peacefully during the exercise, while also applauding INEC and the security agencies for ensuring a credible and transparent process.
The President urged Governor Soludo to extend a hand of fellowship to his opponents and to remain magnanimous in victory, stressing the need for inclusive governance and unity. He also pledged the Federal Government’s continued partnership with Anambra State for greater development and progress.
“Professor Soludo’s re-election is a testament to his visionary leadership and the significant progress the state has recorded under his watch,” Tinubu said.
He further noted that Soludo’s second-term victory makes him the third governor in Anambra’s history to be re-elected, adding that such a feat reflects the people’s trust in his leadership and policies.
Tinubu also praised the new INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, for what he described as a credible outing, urging the electoral body to sustain and improve upon the standard in subsequent elections.
Recalling his visit to Anambra in May, where he commissioned several developmental projects executed by the Soludo administration, the President lauded the governor’s innovative approach to governance.
“Governor Soludo, the Solution, has shown that knowledge can truly serve the people. He has demonstrated that academic principles can be transformed into practical governance tools that promote accountability, transparency, and prudent management of resources,” Tinubu stated.
According to the President, the projects he inaugurated during his visit reflected a clear vision for sustainable development in Anambra State.
“That experience remains remarkable and will continue to resonate with me,” Tinubu concluded.
