The Member representing Burutu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Julius Pondi, has paid glowing tribute to High Chief (Dr) Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, on the occasion of his 55th birth anniversary, describing him as “a true patriot, a living legend, and a steadfast defender of the Niger Delta.”
In a heartfelt congratulatory message, Pondi—who also serves as Chairman of the South South Development Commission—celebrated Tompolo’s enduring legacy as a frontline advocate for the emancipation of the Niger Delta and a symbol of resilience in the face of adversity.
“This milestone provides a profound opportunity to celebrate an iconic freedom fighter, an unwavering social crusader, and a fearless advocate whose contributions to the Niger Delta struggle remain indelible,” Pondi stated.
He further described the Ijaw leader as “a consummate builder of men, a guiding mentor, and a visionary whose life continues to inspire hope, courage, and purpose across generations.”
Reflecting on Tompolo’s pivotal role in stabilizing the region, Pondi commended his leadership in curbing crude oil theft, pipeline vandalism, and other economic sabotage that had long plagued Nigeria’s oil sector.
“Your strategic foresight and uncommon courage have significantly restored peace and enhanced crude oil production in the Niger Delta. The nation is witnessing measurable progress due to your unwavering commitment,” he said.
The lawmaker also applauded Tompolo’s stewardship as Chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, noting that the company has set new standards in the protection of critical national assets.
“Under your leadership, Tantita has emerged as a formidable force in safeguarding oil and gas infrastructure. Your exceptional performance has not only boosted national revenue but also earned widespread recognition both locally and internationally,” Pondi added.
He pointed to the recent vote of confidence passed on Tantita by the Joint Senate and House Committees on Petroleum Resources as “a resounding endorsement of your tireless efforts and a testament to the tangible results achieved in combating oil theft and illegal bunkering.”
Pondi concluded with prayers for continued strength, wisdom, and good health for the celebrant.
“As you mark this remarkable milestone, I pray that God grants you greater wisdom, renewed strength, robust health, and many more years of impactful service to the Niger Delta and our great nation,” he said.
