…….As Governor Flags Off N39 Billion Flyover Project in Warri
The Delta State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has lauded Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for flagging off the construction of the N39 billion Otovwodo Flyover in Ughelli, describing the project as a bold milestone in the transformation of the state and hailing the governor as the architect of a modern and progressive Delta State.
Speaking today with journalists at the venue of the flag-off of the ground breaking ceremony, the State Publicity Secretary of the APC, Valentine Onojeghuo, Esq., praised Governor Oborevwori for his visionary leadership, foresight, and unwavering commitment to infrastructural development across the state.
Onojeghuo said the Otovwodo Flyover, when completed, would significantly decongest traffic along one of the busiest commercial corridors in Warri, reduce travel time, enhance road safety, and stimulate economic activities in the area, adding that the project underscores the governor’s resolve to address long-standing urban and transportation challenges in Delta State.
He commended the governor for what he described as prudent, transparent, and judicious management of the state’s resources, noting that the ability of the administration to embark on and execute mega, multi-billion-naira infrastructure projects without borrowing is a clear demonstration of fiscal discipline and responsible governance.
“The construction of the Otovwodo Flyover is a clear testament to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s capacity for effective leadership and sound economic management. It takes courage, discipline, and vision to deliver projects of this magnitude without resorting to loans that would burden future generations. This project clearly reflects the governor’s commitment to sustainable development and the welfare of Deltans,” Onojeghuo stated.
According to him, the flyover project aligns seamlessly with the governor’s broader development agenda, which focuses on urban renewal, infrastructural expansion, economic growth, and inclusive development across the three senatorial districts of the state.
Onojeghuo further noted that since assuming office, Governor Oborevwori has consistently demonstrated that governance can be people-centred, results-driven, and fiscally responsible, citing the spread of ongoing road, bridge, and urban development projects across the state as evidence of deliberate planning and effective implementation.
He stressed that the Otovwodo Flyover is not only an engineering solution to traffic congestion but also a strategic investment that will enhance commerce, improve connectivity, attract investment, and boost the overall economic profile of Ughelli and Delta State at large.
The APC spokesperson called on residents, motorists, and business owners in the area to cooperate with contractors and relevant government agencies during the construction period, assuring them that any temporary inconvenience would be minimal compared to the long-term benefits the project would deliver.
He also urged stakeholders to take ownership of the project by protecting public infrastructure and supporting government efforts aimed at improving the standard of living of the people.
Onojeghuo concluded by reaffirming the Delta APC’s commitment to supporting policies and initiatives that promote good governance, accountability, and sustainable development, while encouraging the state government to sustain the current momentum of infrastructural growth for the collective benefit of all Deltans.
