Gov. Oborevwori To Embark on Working Visit to Germany to Strengthen Ties with Julius Berger

Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, is set to depart for Germany on Tuesday on an official working visit aimed at strengthening the state’s strategic partnership with leading construction firm, Julius Berger Plc.

Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, disclosed this on Monday during a press briefing held at Government House, Asaba.

Aniagwu, who was joined by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sir Festus Ahon, and the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Public Enlightenment, Projects and Policies, Mr. Olisa Ifeajika, said the trip was strictly business-oriented and intended to consolidate technical collaboration between Delta State and the construction giant.

“The purpose of this visit is to strengthen our ongoing partnership with Julius Berger. His Excellency is renowned for his negotiation skills, and this trip is expected to secure better terms and project concessions that will favour the state,” Aniagwu stated.

He emphasized that the visit was not for leisure but part of deliberate efforts by the administration to enhance value for money, improve project quality, and ensure timely delivery.

The commissioner recalled that previous foreign engagements by the state government, such as the visit to China, yielded major infrastructural investments, including the ₦59 billion Agbor flyover and the ₦39 billion Otovwodo Junction Flyover in Ughelli, both along the Warri–Patani Expressway.

Aniagwu further revealed that the proposed ₦1.5 trillion 2026 budget will place strong emphasis on capital development, infrastructure expansion, and social welfare. He noted that ministries and departments are currently refining their submissions ahead of the budget’s presentation to the State Executive Council.

According to him, the governor has also directed that forthcoming empowerment programmes—set to commence next month—be executed transparently and inclusively across all 25 local government areas. The initiative, he said, will be coordinated by relevant ministries and agencies to create sustainable livelihoods and enhance productivity.

Aniagwu hinted that the state government would, in the coming weeks, perform groundbreaking ceremonies for several major projects worth billions of naira, including the Otovwodo Junction Flyover, signaling the administration’s determination to sustain its infrastructure drive.

He reaffirmed that Governor Oborevwori remains committed to the “MORE Agenda”, assuring Deltans that the government will not allow political timelines to interfere with the pace of governance.

“Contractors have been clearly instructed to sustain steady progress on all ongoing projects. This administration is focused on results, not politics,” Aniagwu said.
