The Delta State Police Command on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, engaged corps members at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp in a lecture session aimed at educating young Nigerians on key societal and security issues.
The program, which was in line with the directive of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, was led by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Edafe Bright, on behalf of the State Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda.
Addressing the corps members, SP Bright delivered lectures on cybercrime, law enforcement, rights and responsibilities of citizens, police accountability, and community policing. He emphasized the need for the youths to avoid all forms of crime and violence, while encouraging them to be ambassadors of honesty, patriotism, and national unity.

The session was interactive as corps members asked questions and shared observations, which were duly addressed. SP Bright also underscored the importance of knowing one’s rights and respecting the rights of others, stressing that anything capable of infringing on their freedoms should be avoided at all costs.
Highlighting section 24 of the 1999 Nigerian Constitution (as amended), he reminded the participants of their civic duties, which include respecting the constitution and institutions, promoting national interest, assisting law enforcement agencies in maintaining peace, and upholding law and order in their communities.
On the issue of police accountability, the corps members were provided with official phone numbers and other channels through which they could lodge complaints against police misconduct.
The Delta Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening trust with citizens, especially the youth, through engagements that promote mutual respect and cooperation.
Would you like me to make this punchier for a newspaper headline style (shorter, attention-grabbing) or keep it more formal and detailed like for a government bulletin?
