The Delta State Government has released the categories of political appointees scheduled to appear before the Verification Committee for screening, following an earlier announcement by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.
The screening exercise was approved by Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori, and is being coordinated by a Verification Committee set up for the purpose.
In a statement issued by the Secretary of the Committee, Mr. Felix Irevwi, the appointees to be screened in the first phase include Executive Assistants (EAs), Senior Special Assistants (SSAs), and Special Assistants (SAs). This also covers aides attached to Honourable Commissioners, Special Advisers, Chairmen and members of Commissions, Boards, Parastatals and Agencies, as well as aides to other senior political appointees.
Also listed for screening are political appointees in the Delta State House of Assembly, excluding domestic staff.
Mr. Irevwi noted that the screening timetable earlier announced by the SSG remains unchanged. The exercise will take place at the Press Centre (behind the Chapel), New Government House, Asaba, between 11:00am and 3:00pm on the scheduled dates.
Appointees are required to present the original copy of their letter of appointment, their Permanent Voter’s Card, and a valid Delta State Government ID card at the venue.
The statement clarified that political appointees in the State House of Assembly are not to attend the screening on the stated dates, as their specific schedule will be communicated through the Clerk of the House. Appointees on Diaspora Matters and Affairs have also been exempted from the exercise.
