Delta APC Stakeholders Meet in Asaba, Emphasise Unity, E-Registration Ahead of Congresses

Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State on Friday held a high-level meeting at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Asaba, to review party activities and strengthen unity ahead of forthcoming congresses.

Addressing the gathering, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori said leadership must be rooted in service, humility and empathy, stressing that the strength of the party lies in unity and collective purpose. He urged members to subordinate personal interests to the party’s overall goal and cautioned against actions capable of breeding division.

According to the governor, meetings of such nature provide an avenue to assess progress, reinforce party structures and prepare for critical political milestones. He noted that effective mobilisation, e-registration and active participation would determine electoral success, particularly ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Oborevwori charged stakeholders to work towards delivering massive votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other APC candidates, adding that electoral performance would determine the party’s influence and benefits at the federal level.

Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Chief Festus Keyamo, SAN, commended the progress recorded in the party’s e-registration exercise and described the APC as increasingly diverse. He advised members to remain focused as congresses approach, cautioning against rumours and avoidable delays while advocating early engagement, dialogue and consensus-building at the grassroots.

Immediate past Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, thanked the governor for convening the meeting, describing his visit to Government House after several years as a sign of inclusiveness. He pledged to work with Governor Oborevwori and other stakeholders to further strengthen the party.

Former Governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, applauded the unity displayed by party leaders and called for intensified grassroots mobilisation. He urged members to deepen e-registration by taking the exercise directly to homes and communities, while advocating inclusiveness and consensus in the conduct of congresses.

National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Mr Felix Morka, praised Governor Oborevwori’s leadership and the digitalisation of the party’s membership register, recommending a consensus approach to ensure peaceful and credible congresses.

In his welcome address, the State APC Chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie, disclosed that the party had recorded over 90 per cent realignment since April 2025, describing the meeting as evidence of renewed unity and momentum.

Speaking on e-registration and congress preparations across the senatorial districts, Delta North Chairman, Ogbueshi Adizue Eluaka, reported relative peace but identified challenges with registration. Delta Central Chairman, Chief Paulinus Akpeki, said Okpe Local Government was leading in registration statewide and appealed for restraint pending official guidelines. Delta South Chairman, Prince Austin Oribioye, called for the resolution of technical challenges to enable the district meet its targets.

The State E-Registration Coordinator, Prince Fred Mordi, said Delta State was selected to host the South-South zonal training, noting steady progress in registration despite minor challenges. He expressed confidence that the state would meet its target before the deadline.

The meeting observed a minute of silence in honour of late Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, who represented Delta North Senatorial District in the Senate.
