Delta APC Applauds Gov. Oborevwori Over PLSI Audit Award, Highlights Fiscal Discipline

The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori following the state’s recognition at the 2025 Paradigm Leadership Support Initiative (PLSI) Subnational Audit Efficacy Index Awards. The party described the honour as a reflection of the administration’s growing commitment to transparency and accountability in governance.

Delta State received an Award of Recognition for its consistency in conducting performance audits on government programmes, projects, and policies during the 2024/2025 financial years. The recognition is widely seen as a major step toward strengthening public financial management and institutional credibility in the state.

In a statement issued in Asaba, the APC, through its State Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo, said the award “is a clear affirmation of the importance of institutional integrity and responsible governance.” He added that “effective auditing remains a cornerstone for sustainable development and the preservation of public trust in government.”

The party further noted that Governor Oborevwori’s administration has become “increasingly synonymous with fiscal discipline and prudent resource management,” stressing that such policies have translated into measurable outcomes. “Achieving over 80 percent budget performance within the period under review is not accidental,” the statement said, “but a direct result of deliberate reforms and financial responsibility.”

According to the APC, the impressive budget performance is tied to ongoing infrastructural development across the state and reforms aimed at improving revenue generation, expenditure monitoring, and accountability systems. “Performance audits are critical tools for evaluating the efficiency and impact of government initiatives,” the statement read. “This recognition validates the administration’s efforts in ensuring that public funds deliver tangible benefits to the people.”

While congratulating the governor, the party urged the administration to build on the achievement by strengthening oversight institutions and encouraging greater citizen participation. “Good governance is a continuous journey,” the APC stated. “We encourage His Excellency to consolidate these gains and sustain reforms that promote accountability, efficiency, and inclusive development for all Deltans.”

The APC added that recognitions such as the PLSI Audit Efficacy Award serve not only to celebrate progress but also to inspire higher governance standards across states. It reaffirmed its support for policies and initiatives that will further entrench transparency, accountability, and sustainable development in Delta State.
