Business Influx Signals Investor Confidence in Delta, Says Oborevwori

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has attributed the rising presence of businesses, financial institutions and hospitality operators in the state to deliberate reforms aimed at improving the ease of doing business.

Speaking in Asaba on Wednesday during the inauguration of Premium Trust Bank’s second branch in the state capital and its 30th branch nationwide, the governor said the increasing corporate footprint in Delta reflects growing investor confidence, the state’s market potential and a conducive operating environment fostered by government policies.

Oborevwori explained that his administration had enhanced the business climate through extensive infrastructure renewal, policy reforms, a pro-business government posture and the maintenance of peace across the state. He added that targeted policies had been introduced to support business growth and attract investments.

According to the governor, one of such initiatives is the centralised building control system, designed to fast-track land and property acquisition for investors.

He noted that Asaba has experienced a significant real estate boom, largely driven by increased population inflow from neighbouring states.

He reaffirmed the commitment of his administration to positioning Delta State as a preferred investment destination through economic policies anchored on the MORE Agenda.

Congratulating the board, management and staff of Premium Trust Bank on the opening of the new branch, Oborevwori described the bank’s expansion to 30 branches within three years as impressive, attributing the achievement to strong leadership, innovation and professionalism. He said the bank’s growth was driven by personalised customer service and innovative banking products.

The governor expressed optimism that the new branch would contribute to human capital development, job creation and the expansion of retail banking activities in the state, noting that several qualified youths had already been employed by the bank.

He also urged residents to remain peaceful and law-abiding, particularly during the Christmas season, stressing that peace remains critical to attracting investments and stimulating job and wealth creation. He assured that the state government would continue to strengthen security across Delta.

Oborevwori cautioned host communities against intimidating companies operating in their areas, while advising corporate organisations to fulfil their corporate social responsibilities. He emphasised that no company or oil installation would be shut down in the state under any circumstance.

In his remarks, the Managing Director of Premium Trust Bank, Dr. Emmanuel Emefienem, said the newly inaugurated outlet marked the bank’s 30th branch nationwide, its fifth in Delta State and second in Asaba.

Dr. Emefienem commended Governor Oborevwori for what he described as visionary leadership and visible progress in infrastructure development, youth empowerment and economic diversification, describing Delta State as “a project site” with ongoing development across multiple sectors.
