Oborevwori Moves To Resolve Bomadi Local Government Crisis Amid Rising Tension

‎Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has stepped in to address the escalating political crisis in Bomadi Local Government Area, even as the Delta State House of Assembly, despite receiving an impeachment notice against Council Chairman, Hon. Dagidi Andaye, from 15 Councillors, has failed to exercise its constitutional authority to investigate the matter.

‎Reliable sources reveal that the Delta State House of Assembly has allegedly decided not to probe the issue, which stands in stark contrast to Section 31 of the Delta State Local Government Law (as amended), which grants the House the power to investigate such matters, particularly when brought before it by a two-thirds majority of the councillors.

‎The serious allegations against the embattled Chairman, Hon. Dagidi Andaye, include the forgery of councillors’ signatures to fraudulently secure an N800M loan from a commercial bank, financial mismanagement, reckless spending, and acts of intimidation using the name of the Governor.

‎Governor Oborevwori, who must be deeply troubled by Andaye’s inability to manage the local government’s substantial monthly allocation, is now faced with the revelation that the chairman borrowed N800M between October and November 2025 and took another overdraft of N100M in December 2025. This is especially troubling, considering that the Governor has not taken any loans since assuming office on May 29, 2023.

‎A source, speaking anonymously, revealed that Governor Oborevwori has instructed the Director of Protocol, Chief Onoriode Sunday, to intervene in the crisis, which culminated in a crucial meeting held last night at the Event Centre in Asaba.

‎In attendance were Chief Onoriode Sunday (Director of Protocol), Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor (Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly), Hon. Kelly Penawou (Commissioner for Local Government Affairs), Dr. Barry Pere Gbe (Economic Adviser to the State Government), Hon. Dagidi Andaye (Chairman, Bomadi LGA), some councillors, including current Leader Hon. ThankGod Tiriki, and impeached Leader Hon. Doubra Wurukeseiye.

‎However, strong indications suggest that Hon. Oboro Preyor, the member representing Bomadi Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, was conspicuously absent from the meeting, despite being the official representative for Bomadi in the state legislature.

‎Notably, other influential leaders, such as Senator James Manager and Rt. Hon. Nicholas Mutu, or their representatives, were not also present.

‎The source further disclosed that the meeting could not reach any final conclusion regarding the political crisis, following Hon. Dagidi Andaye’s admission of collecting the N800M loan without following the necessary legislative procedures.

‎The 15 Councillors took the opportunity to highlight several of Hon. Andaye’s “political sins,” which, according to the source, deeply embarrassed the Speaker, the Director of Protocol, and other key leaders. A second round of meetings is currently ongoing at the same venue (Event Centre, Asaba) with further developments expected.
