The Federal Ministry of Education has launched the Inspire Live(s) Online Real-Time Classes Initiative, a nationwide digital learning programme designed to widen access to quality education for schoolchildren across Nigeria.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Folasade Boriowo, described the initiative as a major step toward ensuring equitable learning opportunities for every Nigerian child. She noted that the programme aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for the education sector.
According to the ministry, the platform was developed to address persistent gaps such as inadequate numbers of qualified teachers and recurring disruptions to academic activities. By offering live, interactive online lessons, Inspire Live(s) aims to “democratise access to quality education” and ensure learners in all locations can participate.
Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, confirmed that implementation has fully commenced, adding that the rollout will progressively cover Primary 1 through Senior Secondary 3.
At present, the Inspire platform offers classes for Junior and Senior Secondary School students, conducted by certified master teachers via Cisco Webex. The classes run Mondays to Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Subjects available for JSS pupils include Mathematics, English Language, Basic Science, ICT, Civic Education, Agricultural Science, Basic Technology, French, Physical Education, Religious Studies, History and Business Studies.
Senior secondary students can access lessons in Mathematics, English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Economics, Geography, Agricultural Science, Technical Drawing/Catering Craft, Civic Education and Automobile Mechanics.
To ensure effective nationwide participation, the ministry has directed all state Commissioners for Education to appoint State Focal Officers, disseminate programme information to all school principals, and provide basic ICT infrastructure and internet connectivity in designated schools.
The ministry also noted that enrolment will be handled exclusively by school principals through the Inspire support channels.
While the initiative is government-led, officials clarified that Inspire Live(s) is open to both public and private schools across the country.
